Silt Prophecy. L’opera di Lucia Cristiani rappresenta un fondale tracciato da un flusso d’acqua. Uno stagno che testimonia l’impronta di un percorso sinuoso nel terreno di CityLife. L’opera scultorea è un frammento orizzontale, una forma organica che gioca poeticamente su un elemento vitale del Paradiso di Dante, quello dell’acqua, qui rappresentato attraverso un materiale solido, lo stagno, un metallo resistente, ma dall’aspetto ancestrale e fluido, a indicare quella forza delicata che la natura attua sull’uomo e il suo terreno. Silt Prophecy si sviluppa a terra con una forma in divenire. Sulla sua superficie l’artista ha inciso, come segni nel fango, una frase tratta da “Twenty-One Love Poem” della poetessa Adrienne Rich. Un tributo alla parola di Dante attraverso una traccia di un poema, una profezia e il flusso vitale dell’acqua. (Rossella Farinotti)

Silt Prophecy. The present work by Lucia Cristiani represents a seabed marked by a water flow. It resembles a pond that aims to witness a sinuous path into CityLife district. The sculpture is a horizontal fragment, an organic shape that poetically plays on the vital element of water, inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Paradise. A concept that Cristiani reinvented by reimagining it into the solid material of tin, a robust metal that simultaneously reveals an ancestral and fluid appearance. The two-folded nature of water seeks to reiterate the delicate strength that nature actualized on the human being and land. On the seabed’s surface the artist carved a sentence from a poem by Adrienne Rich as traces written on the mud. A tribute to Dante’s lyrics through a poem that became a prophecy thanks to a vital flow of water. (Rossella Farinotti)

“Silt Prophecy emerges within CityLife’s garden, as an irregular silver surface that has been placed on the ground. It serves as the bed of an emerged pond on whose surface I carved a few words by the poet Adrienne Rich, which convey an auspicious prophecy that wishes a new individual rebirth reflecting the intense sunlight and the blazes of the night”. Lucia Cristiani (Milano, Italia, 1991). Vive e lavora tra Milano e Sarajevo. Artista visiva, ottiene il Diploma in Pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera e il Master in Arti Visive sempre presso Brera. La sua ricerca artistica nasce dal rapporto con il paesaggio come materia d’indagine, come punto di osservazione della realtà. Esso è inteso come politico, storico e personale, come esperienza umana e molteplicità di segni e identità. Ha esposto il suo lavoro in diverse mostre personali e collettive in Italia e all’estero, tra cui: Temporary North Star, a cura di Gabriele Tosi e Fabio Farnè, Localedue, Bologna (2020); How far should I go to explode?, House of Displacement, a cura di CampoBase, promossa da Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo con il supporto di Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT, Torino (2019); Hyper-faded Ordinary Life. Lucia Cristiani è anche la vincitrice di Premio LEVEL 0- ArtVerona 2017 della GAM, Galleria Arte Moderna Achille Forti, Verona e nel 2018, nello stesso museo, ha presentato la mostra personale con il lavoro The Grace of Maybe.

Lucia Cristiani was born in Milan in 1991. She lives and works between Milan and Sarajevo. A visual artist, she obtained a Bachelor degree in Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and a Master degree in Visual Arts at the same Academy. Her research unfolds from the relationship with the landscape as a subject of investigation, considered as a point of observation to get in touch with reality. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including: Temporary North Star, curated by Gabriele Tosi and Fabio Farnè, Localedue, Bologna (2020); How far should I go to explode?, House of Displacement, curated by CampoBase, promoted by Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and with the support of Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT, Turin (2019); Hyper-faded Ordinary Life.
