SOLE. L’opera di Alice Ronchi è un arco in ottone che accoglie il pubblico attraverso un elegante benvenuto in cui il dialogo estetico e poetico con il contesto di CityLife rappresenta un impatto forte che dichiara una relazione con la città. SOLE invita il fruitore a un passaggio armonico dove è incoraggiato ad alzare lo sguardo per cogliere elementi e dettagli riflessi sulla sua superficie lucida e per leggere le quattro grandi lettere - S O L E - che rappresentano un tributo alla parola di Dante Alighieri e una chiara indicazione di un passaggio verso una dimensione profonda e poetica che supera il contesto urbano e il percorso in cui l’opera è inserita. “Rileggendo l’ultima frase del Cantico del Paradiso dal quale il progetto prende ispirazione, ho maturato l’idea di un’opera che rappresenti un benvenuto; un incontro con qualcosa di alto e armonico; una presenza radiosa che simboleggi quell’incontro che Dante fece al termine del suo lungo cammino in cui si affidò al cielo come guida e nel quale ritrovò l’amor Divino che muove tutto l’universo. Per me “Sole” non si riferisce unicamente alla stella madre del sistema solare, bensì a un incontro con qualcosa di naturale che dialoga con l’interiorità dell’uomo, simbolo di luce e meraviglia” (Alice Ronchi)

SOLE/SUN. The work by Alice Ronchi is a brass archway that welcomes the public and initiates an aesthetic and poetic dialogue with the CityLife context, whose strong impact declares a vivid connection with the city. SOLE invites the spectators to a harmonious passage where they are encouraged to look up and gaze elements and details reflected on its glossy surface. The four massive letters - S O L E - are a homage to Dante Alighieri's lyrics and reveal the passage towards a profound and poetic dimension that overcomes the urban context and the pathway in which Ronchi’s work is set. “By reading the last sentence of Paradise Canticle - from which the project takes its inspiration - I developed the idea of an artwork which represents a welcome; an encounter with something noble and harmonic; a symbol of the presence Dante meets at the end of his long journey where he chose the sky as his guidance and reconnects with Divine love which is the only thing that sets in motion the entire universe.To me “Sun” does not uniquely refers to the Mother star of the Solar system, but rather to something natural in dialogue with human inner reality, as a symbol of light and splendor” (Alice Ronchi)

Biografia Artista

Alice Ronchi (1989) è un’artista che vive e lavora a Milano. Si è laureata nel 2012 alla Nuova Accademia di belle arti di Milano e nel 2015 al Sandberg Insituut di Amsterdam. Ha esposto in mostre collettive alla Triennale di Milano, a Palazzo Reale, al MAMbo di Bologna e al MAXXI di Roma. Tra le personali Colazione sull’erba (2014) e Majestic Solitude (2018) nella galleria Francesca Minini, A Dinosaur Can Be Vain (2015) nella galleria Fons Welters dI Amstedam e diverse altre inclusi spazi di progetto e opere permanenti in luoghi pubblici. Dal 2020 insegna alla Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) a Milano e collabora spesso con istituzioni e scuole per il quale sviluppa workshop per bambini. Nei suoi lavori oggetti d’uso quotidiano incontrano il mondo dell’invenzione e della fantasia. La ricerca della “meraviglia” è un tema costante nella sua ricerca, popolata di figure familiari e allo stesso tempo enigmatiche, prodotto di una propria rielaborazione astratta. A metà strada tra il ludico e il minimale, il suo lavoro è una sintesi tra il rigore della forma e la semplicità d’espressione. Con l’uso di differenti media, che variano dalla scultura alla fotografia, e dalla performance al video, Alice interroga la realtà attraverso uno sguardo attento e curioso, restituendoci una sua magica visione.

Alice Ronchi (1989) is an artist who lives and works in Milan. She received her MFA from the University of Amsterdam Sandberg Instituut in 2015 and her BA in 2012 from NABA University in Milan. In 2013 she started her collaboration with the gallery Francesca Minini in Milan where she exhibited with two solo shows, Breakfast on the grass (2014), and Majestic solitude (2018). She often collaborates with institutions, schools and museums to design workshops for children. She’s currently teaching at NABA university in Milano: Sculpturing - international English course. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally including: Palazzo Reale (Milan IT), Fons Welters Gallery (Amsterdam NL), La Triennale Museum (Milan, IT), Macro Museum (Rome IT), Stadgalerie (Kiel DE), MamBo (Bologna IT), MAXXI (Rome IT), Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin IT), Galleria civica di Trento (Trento IT) among the others. In her works, everyday objects meet the world of invention and fantasy. The search for wonder is a constant theme in her work, populated by familiar yet enigmatic figures, the product of an abstract reworking. Somewhere in between playful and minimal, her work is a perfect synthesis between the simplicity of expression and complexity of forms and meanings. With the use of different media, ranging from sculpture to photography, from performance to video, Ronchi questions reality through a careful and curious gaze, giving us her magical vision.
