The project

CityLife is Milan’s groundbreaking new district, created from the transformation of the city’s historic trade fairgrounds. Today, it stands as a landmark example of urban regeneration.

The History of CityLife

CityLife was established through the partnership of Italy’s three leading insurance groups—Generali Properties, RAS S.p.A., and Fondiaria-Sai. In 2005, the company won an international design competition with a visionary masterplan developed by world-renowned architects Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki, and Daniel Libeskind. Working collaboratively, they shaped a comprehensive vision for the district—integrating architecture, public space, and the urban fabric through a multicultural exchange of ideas.

The project is anchored by two key elements: the Three Towers, iconic symbols of transformation, and a 178,000-square-meter public park that links the green spaces of northwest Milan to Parco Sempione. The overarching goal is to convert the former trade fairgrounds into a contemporary neighborhood—featuring one of the largest pedestrian areas in Europe, and a balanced mix of residential, business, retail, and lifestyle services, offering a new way to live and experience Milan.

The projects in the city

The restoration project of the Scuola Rinnovata Pizzigoni in Milan aims to preserve and enhance the existing buildings through sustainability and efficiency-driven solutions. Covering an area of 22,480 sqm, the school complex includes five main buildings: primary school, kindergarten, swimming pool, Agraria Pavilion, and Casa del Fattore. The interventions focus on structural, energy, and systems upgrades, fire safety compliance, and the restoration of historical features. Special attention will be given to preserving original decorations while modernizing educational and administrative spaces. As implementing partner, CityLife oversees the execution of the project within the framework of the Integrated Intervention Program. The project is divided into phases to ensure the continuity of school activities and includes solutions to improve accessibility and eliminate architectural barriers.
