Shopping District
Italy’s Largest Urban Shopping District

Italy’s Largest Urban Shopping District
Opened in November 2017, CityLife Shopping District is the largest urban commercial district in Italy. In its first year alone, it welcomed nearly 10 million visitors and created approximately 1,000 new jobs. Offering a unique mix of food, fashion, and entertainment, the district features around one hundred brands and a multiplex cinema, establishing itself as a premier destination for shopping and leisure in Milan.

A Landmark Design by Renowned Architects
The shopping district unfolds across three adjacent areas connected by a pedestrian path: the covered commercial gallery designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Piazza Tre Torri by One Works Studio, and the open-air Anna Castelli Ferrieri promenade designed by Galantino Associati Studio. The commercial gallery and Generali Tower are part of a unified architectural vision by Zaha Hadid Architects, with the mall’s design echoing the tower’s spiral form, seamlessly reconnecting the structure to the ground.

Sustainable Design and Immersive Comfort
Inside the mall, spread across three levels, visitors will find fashion boutiques, restaurants, and a cinema with 1,200 seats. The floors are visually connected by a large central opening and illuminated by natural light from the EFTE transparent roof. The food court connects with the park through expansive windows and features areas for events, coworking, and socializing. Built to the highest sustainability standards, the district uses a hydronic ring system for climate control, houses three photovoltaic systems, and features self-cleaning concrete surfaces that reduce air pollution—a true added value for the entire neighborhood.
